Its been quite a while since Google has discontinued YouTube Gaming app with an intention to merge both of them into a single YouTube app for all needs.

But still not all features are available of YouTube Gaming app are available on main YouTube app, some were missing. One such important missing feature is the ability to Live Stream your Phone screen on YouTube.

This is particularly important to those who constantly do Live Gameplay streaming of mobile games like PUBG, Fortnite, etc. Because of the lack of this feature on the main YouTube app, many were started using 3rd party applications to simulate live streaming.

Now after a long time, Google has finally added option to Stream Phone’s screen on YouTube for Android. In this tutorial, we will see how you can Stream your Android Phone Live on YouTube via the official YouTube app without the need of any 3rd party app.

Before we get into the steps, first make sure to check these couple of things:

1. Mobile live streaming eligibility – In order to be eligible for Live streaming on YouTube mobile app, your channel should have at least 1000 subscribers. Your channel should be verified (with mobile number) and live streaming is enabled. For more details check this help page.
2. Your phone should be running on Android Marshmallow 6.0 or above.

 

Steps to Live Stream Your Android Smartphone Screen through YouTube App

Once you make sure that you satisfy the Prerequisites I mentioned above,  follow these steps to stream your Phone screen on YouTube:

1. Open the YouTube app and tap on Camcorder icon in the top navigation bar.
2. In the next screen tap on “Go Live” button and then click on Phone icon present in the top right of the screen.
3. This opens a new live stream form. Here you can enter all the necessary details like Title, Privacy settings and the Game title. Tap on More options, for additional settings like Age restrictions, Disable/ Enable live chat, Monetization and Paid promotions details if any. Once done, tap on Next.
4. By default, the thumbnail is automatically set based on the Game title you have selected in the previous screen. But if you want to use a custom thumbnail, you can do so here by clicking on the pencil icon. Also, you can set the orientation for the video (Landscape or Portrait) and the video will be streamed in that orientation regardless of your phone/ app orientation. Remember, you cannot change it once you go live.
5. Once done, tap on Next. Now it goes to the home screen and you can see a toolbar on the top with options to Disable/ Enable the Camera, Microphone and a Go Live button. Open the Game you want to stream and once you are ready, just click on Go Live button and the streaming will start after a 3-second countdown on the screen.
